We secure intellectual property rights for prominent national and international companies as well as highly creative start-up businesses. All our clients are at the forefront of technological development in the electronics, engineering, chemical and biotechnology sectors.

We are seeking talented and motivated students to join us for an internship programme. Are you thinking of a career as a trademark attorney and eager to gain practical experience in the field? If so, read on.

Who are we?
We are an IP powerhouse comprising over 200 people in 7 locations, providing a full suite of IP services advising across the globe and in all technical and scientific disciplines.  Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Our business ethos is all about great client service and we can only deliver that by being a great employer.

What can you expect during the internship?
As an Intellectual Property Intern, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our team of IP attorneys and professionals. This internship program is designed to provide you with both hands on experience and exposure to various aspects of IP Law via class-room based learning, similar to the training provided to our trainee attorneys when enrolled at our HLK Academy.

What exactly do trade mark attorneys do?
A trade mark attorney advises clients on all aspects of trade mark usage, protection and enforcement. At the core of the job, a trade mark attorney will be called upon to conduct clearance searches to ascertain whether trade marks are free for use, and to file and prosecute trade mark applications, drafted to reflect clients’ commercial interests. He or she will also be actively involved in international portfolio protection and management, as well as in a wide variety of contentious matters, from oppositions, revocation and invalidity proceedings to trade mark infringement issues.
Some of the things we love about our jobs are:
  • The opportunity to apply your law or languages related degree to a wide cross-section of clients and technologies.
  • Continuing intellectual challenge - you never stop learning.
  • Excellent career opportunities and financial rewards.
  • The international aspects of work providing ample opportunity to travel.
